10 years of rescue stories. Hard-earned lessons. One honest resource — built for pet parents, by a pet parent.
I started Pet Health Notes because I know that feeling — it's 11:00 PM, your dog is acting strangely, and everything you read online tells you they have five minutes to live. I've been there, staring at my phone in a panic, more times than I can count.
I am not a veterinarian. I am a dedicated dog parent who has spent over a decade navigating real health decisions for my dog, Don. Every article on this site comes from that lived experience — and is then rigorously cross-checked against trusted veterinary sources so the information is actually safe, calm, and practical.
It all began the day we brought home Don. My daughter was so small, and he was even smaller — just a few weeks old, barely fitting in her arms. That moment is when I realized that raising a dog isn't just a hobby. It's a decade-long commitment to a life that depends completely on you.
📋 My daughter and Don on Day 1 — the moment that started everything.
Over the years, Don and I went through the full spectrum of dog parenting. The terrifying late-night emergencies, the sudden allergies, the confusion over vaccinations, and now, managing the stiffness and arthritis in his senior years. Through it all, I kept notes. Obsessively. I wrote down what the vet said, what actually worked at home, and what I wish I had known sooner.
That stack of notes became this website.
I wanted to build a corner of the internet that pet parents could actually trust. No fake credentials. No robotic, generic AI articles written by people who have never cleaned up dog vomit at 3 AM. Just honest, experience-first guidance that acts as a bridge between your living room and your vet's office.
Every article starts from a real situation I or another pet parent actually faced with their dog. Lived experience beats theory.
All health thresholds, dosages, and emergency guidelines are verified against the Merck Veterinary Manual and AVMA guidelines.
I am a pet parent, not a vet. We say that clearly. Honest disclaimers always. We guide you *to* the vet, we don't replace them.
Managing Don's health taught me that organized notes save lives. Get my free Dog Health Starter Kit (Checklists + Emergency Cheatsheet) delivered to your inbox.
